The brief arrived in five words: Ibiza, understated, natural, stone, and concrete.
This tucked-away character home in London's green belt is the retreat of a Hollywood director and his wife, a wellness coach and chef. Working alongside architects Stiff+Trevillion, we helped them shape a home around those five words and what they mean to the owners.
A space that breathes, a professional kitchen, a cinematic consistency with natural materials running throughout, indoors and out.
With cooking and entertaining central to their life, the kitchen takes centrestage. It had to perform, to chef standards, for family suppers or those occasions cooking for the entire film crew.
The stars of the show: a professional BORA setup, steam ovens, and the full range of demands. It's now the room in the house that draws everyone toward it. Somewhere to gather, to entertain, to stay long after the plates are cleared.
The Taj Mahal quartzite arrived with a history. The owners had previously lived with it and they couldn’t be without it. We love kitchens being a living story so we made the much-loved stone an anchor for every design detail that followed.
The kitchen isand is long and generous, built for fmaily and friends to settle around with a drink and move less frequently. Fluted oak runs across the back of the island and pantry unit: a detail that shifts through the day, catching light differently at noon and at dusk, adding warmth without adding weight.
We finished the handles finished in a custom liquid metal spray. Neither polished nor matte, a surface somewhere in between, warm and precise simultaneously that’s pure, understated and calm luxury.
We designed the bar, office and pantry joinery as part of the same chain of thought. A fully directed finish that flows through the scenes, from one room to the next.
Our kitchens don’t need drama to have presence.
